Diamonds are a girls best friend, right? They’re pretty and shiny and there isn’t a thing in any girl’s wardrobe that won’t go with them (Seriously, I know people that have worn diamonds with their sweats and managed to pull it off). But if you can’t afford the real deal, either save your money or buy ’em fake, unless you want to end up like Ingrid Lederhaas-Okun.

She had what would be considered to many women to be a dream job: She was the vice president of one of the most known jewelery company in the world – The renowned Tiffany & Co. For those of you that have been living under a rock, let me tell you what exactly this company is – They sell some of those most fine pieces of jewelery available, and even their more boring pieces will cost you an arm and a leg. But for the price you get the best quality available and you’ll be able to wear the pieces you buy from there virtually forever (as I type this, I’m wearing a Tiffany’s bracelet. To give you an idea of just how durable this stuff is – I used to be a commercial cleaner. I cleaned a pizza restaurant 7 nights a week wearing this bracelet given to me by the best boyfriend in the world. This bracelet went through hell with the cleaning and still looks as amazing as it did the day I got it.

Tiffany's Former VP Arrested For Theft

Lederhaas-Okun saw the value in the jewelery and decided she wanted a piece of the pie herself. She plead guilty to one count of interstate transportation of stolen property. Over 165 pieces of the company’s fine pieces were stolen by her, apparently dating as far back as 2005. She managed to steal over $2 million worth of merchandise over that period and the company didn’t notice until after she was terminated in February when they did the inventory.

She’s been sentenced to one year plus one day in prison as well as ordered to forfeit $2.1 million and to pay $2.2 million in restitution. Do I think it was worth it? No, but she might. Different strokes for different folks, right?

What do you think? If you were the VP of Tiffany’s, do you think you would have done the same thing or would you have been able to control yourself from stealing their merchandise? Let us know what you would do in the comments!
